The OEL defines the average concentration load of a medicinal product or API measured over a period of time (time weighted average, TWA). Measurement is carried out in the employee's breathing area over a period of eight hours (40-hour week) in order to check compliance with the OEL limit value.

FDA: Updated Pre-RFD Guidance for Combination Products
