What is adjustment?

In the adjustment process, a measuring instrument is set or adjusted so that the measurement deviations are as small as possible or so that the amounts of the measurement deviations do not exceed the error limits. Adjustment therefore requires an intervention that in most cases permanently changes the measuring instrument or the material measure (definition as per DIN 1319).
