What are endotoxins?
Endotoxins are lipopolysaccharides (LPS) from the outer membrane of the cell wall of gram-negative bacteria. Endotoxins have a pyrogenic effect in humans and many mammals, i.e. they cause fever. In addition to the fever response, there may also be other physiological reactions.
