EU: Council Adopts the Pharmaceutical Package

On 28 September 2026, the Council of the European Union adopted the EU pharmaceutical package, marking another important step in the legislative process for the comprehensive reform of EU pharmaceutical legislation.

The package comprises a new Directive and a new Regulation intended to replace the existing core EU pharmaceutical legislation. We have previously reported on the key provisions and changes.

As the next step, the European Parliament must formally adopt the package. The legislative acts can then be published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
