EDQM: New chapter on balances in the European Pharmacopoeia
As of July 2021, the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.) now contains chapter 2.1.7 "Balances for analytical purposes". It was included as an addition to section 2.1 Apparatus and defines the requirements placed on the "balance" tool in an analytical procedure.
In addition to calibration and the implementation of performance tests, the new chapter also contains recommendations for the installation and use of a balance. These apply to the weighing operations within an analytical procedure that is carried out to verify conformity with the regulations of the European Pharmacopoeia.
