How does electro-deionisation work?

Electro-deionisation (EDI) is a desalination process based on electrodialysis and mixed-bed ion exchange. The technology always requires water that has already been strongly pre-desalinated, e.g. a permeate from an RO system. An EDI system combines and uses the behaviour of ions in an electric field and membrane technology.
