Thomas Altmann is a state-certified food chemist and has been working in the technical service department of Ecolab Deutschland GmbH since 1999. Before studying food chemistry in Wuppertal, he trained as a chemical technician at Bayer AG, where he worked in large-scale production.
As a technical consultant he has given presentations and seminars on cleaning validation for various organisations such as IVT (Institute of Validation Technology), ISPE (International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering), Informa LifeScience, VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbauer, association of the machinery and equipment manufacturing industry in Germany) and FDAnews.
As a member of the working group, he was involved in the development of the standard ASTM 3106-18 "Science-Based and Risk-Based Cleaning Process Development and Validation". Thomas Altmann is also co-author of various technical publications, in particular the series "Cleaning Validation for the 21st Century", and an active member of the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA).
