Social Commitment
GMP-Verlag supports social projects.
Sustainability and social commitment are an integral part of GMP-Verlag's corporate culture. Since its foundation in 1999, the publishing team has been involved in a variety of social causes.
In addition to individual voluntary activities, this includes sponsoring events organised by local institutions and making annual donations to projects and organisations, both nationally and internationally.
"Donations instead of gifts": Rather than giving material gifts to our business partners and customers for Christmas, we make donations.
Every year, GMP-Verlag employees can suggest voluntary organisations and social projects that are particularly close to their hearts. These are mostly projects and institutions dedicated to working with children and young people, as well as research in the field of lupus erythematosus.
GMP-Verlag has been participating in Stadtradeln (which can be translated to "City Cycling") in Schopfheim every year since 2021. Participants can collect kilometres and win prizes. However, the main aim of cycling is to cover as many everyday journeys as possible in a climate-friendly way by bike. This reduces traffic-related environmental pollution.
Stadtradeln also draws attention to cycling infrastructure. Cyclists can report obstacles on their route via the RADar! online platform. This enables the local authority to take targeted action to remedy the situation and ensure safe use of bicycles – and perhaps encourage even more people to leave their cars at home.
Stadtradeln is organised by over 750 local authorities across Germany. Stadtradeln is a campaign run by the Climate Alliance. The Climate Alliance is a network of European local authorities in partnership with indigenous peoples that develops local responses to global climate change.

Reports from the press
January 2020: Fundraising campaign for the Freiburg Children's and Youth Clinic
Do you remember? In the last LOGBUCH, we introduced you to the team of authors from Testo who jointly wrote the chapter on calibration. The authors donated their fees to one of the many social initiatives that Testo Industrial Services supported last year to mark its 20th anniversary.
The Project:
The team of authors chose a forward-looking project at Freiburg University Hospital: the construction of a new children's and youth clinic. Under the motto ‘A hospital for the region, a clinic for the whole world!’, a 21st-century children's and youth clinic is currently being built in Freiburg, designed to support health, healing and development far beyond medical care. The new clinic will offer everything from emergency treatment and outpatient care to inpatient stays, from premature babies to young adults. In addition to patient-oriented premises, the innovative concept also includes the networking of medical, social and psychosocial facilities. The clinic is scheduled to open in 2022.
The Sponsors:
Following the authors' good example, the staff committee at Testo Industrial Services and GMP-Verlag decided to jointly match the authors' generous donation. This enabled the team of authors, together with Hansjörg Löffler (Testo Industrial Services) and Barbara and Thomas Peither (GMP-Verlag), to ceremoniously hand over the impressive sum of €4,000 in the form of a cheque during their visit to the University Children's Hospital on 20 November 2019.
September 2019: Maas & Peither GMP-Verlag supports children's project
The long wait is over for the children and young people of Harpolingen, a small community in the Black Forest: thanks to a donation from GMP-Verlag, the long-awaited bike park can finally be built. Dirt parks and bike parks can be used by children with balance bikes, young people and adults with all types of mountain bikes and BMX bikes. On 28 June, Thomas Peither from GMP-Verlag presented the project initiator and publishing house author Christine Oechslein with a donation cheque for €1,250 in front of enthusiastic children.
Sustainability and social commitment are part of the corporate culture of Maas & Peither GMP-Verlag in Schopfheim. Since its foundation in 1999, the publishing house's managers have been involved in a wide range of activities. ‘Social commitment is an issue that is particularly close to our hearts and those of our employees,’ says Thomas Peither. This includes sponsoring events organised by local institutions, such as the Special Olympics Baden-Württemberg. ‘We feel part of our city and region and are happy to support projects run by social groups,’ adds Barbara Peither. ‘When we heard that the lack of public funding meant the dirt park was going to be closed, we spontaneously decided to help.’
How did this happen?
Harpolingen offered hardly any leisure activities for children aged between 6 and 15. To change this, the citizens' association searched for and found a suitable site at the children's request: here, children and young people can enjoy outdoor activities without endangering themselves or other road users. ‘The children developed their own ideas and convinced their parents to help them design their bike park,’ says Christine Oechslein from the Daheim in Harpolingen e.V. citizens' association, describing the development process. ‘Only earthen obstacles are to be built on the site, which was an important concern for everyone involved.’
‘Supporting sustainable work with children and young people is an investment in the future and part of our social responsibility,’ concludes Thomas Peither, himself an enthusiastic cyclist. ‘We are delighted to be able to contribute to this and wish the kids lots of fun.’
Make way for bike stunts in Harpolingen!
